Birthday shopping trip

Today I turned 31. I went shopping without kids and realized a few things about myself.
1. I am not able to shop in a mall. Too many stores, prices are too high, and it is exhausting.
2. I really have no clue how to shop for myself anymore.
3. I have no problem finding stuff for my girls.

Mommy 101: Raising girls means pink

You can't fight pink. Pink is not just a color, it's a state of being.

These are things I didn't realize until Abby was born. I grew up with two older brothers, so, for me, pink was uncool. I stand corrected by my five year old.

At first I tried to fight the inevitable, but when it was announced GIRL, the pink came. I tried to do a neutral nursery. Finally I gave in when my first baby girl was here and I realized pink couldn't be so bad when it was wrapped around something so sweet. So I started to buy pink things. Then with each girl added, we are pink crazy. I have accepted this and I am ok with it. We throw in other colors for fun, like purple and green. Blue on occasion. Brown almost never.

And, yes, that is a pink background on my blog, thanks for noticing. ;)

Crocking Results

The Crock Pot is such a wonderful device. I fixed it and forgot it yesterday. It all turned out yummy, it was done by 5, and I was able to get some things accomplished while it was cooking. Things like, picking Abby up from school, facebooking, feeding the baby, making out party invites, and cleaning up the dining area. The downside to this is there is just as much prep time to some of the recipes, so, not easier to make. Clean up is about the same. So, why not just cook it on the stove or in the oven? For me, it's the convenience of being able to have it be ready by a certain time no matter what chaos is going on in the afternoon. I can make it midday when Angel is napping or in the morning when the girls are still asleep when I can focus solely on cooking. So, the crocking was a success. Only problem was I didn't get to do dishes last night after dinner so crock pots aren't clean this morning. I have no meat thawed out either. So, crocking means planning ahead. Lesson learned.

Crocking it up!

Tonight's dinner will be made entirely in a crock pot. Yes I am a domestic diva and facebook has inspired me. Let's see if it is easier to make it all day instead of in a rushed hour at dinnertime in between stopping sibling fights, helping Abby with her Kindergarten homework, cleaning off the table that somehow ALWAYS becomes a catch all, and holding at least one child. What's on the menu? Pork Chops, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, and broccoli casserole. Whaaaattt??? Oh yeah I am woman, hear me roar!

Gonna try this

I don't know how often I will update. People always comment on how busy I must be with all these girls, truth is, I am. So, the busier I am the less blogging I will do. But I wanted to do this as a way to record what my girls are doing and as an outlet for me to express my thoughts. Again we'll see how this works.
